The story of Nike

Nike is an American company specialising in footwear, clothing and sports accessories. It was founded in 1964 in Oregon by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight as Blue Ribbon Sports. At first they sold shoes from the Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger, known today as ASICS. In 1971 Blue Ribbon Sports introduced its own shoe brand, named Nike. The name comes from the Greek goddess of victory, Nike. The first model was the "Cortez", designed by Bill Bowerman. The Cortez became hugely popular, especially among runners. Over the following years Nike expanded its product portfolio and moved into other sports. In 1984 Nike signed a deal with basketball player Michael Jordan and released the first Jordan model, which became one of the most popular sports shoes in history. Over the next decades Nike kept expanding into global markets and became one of the biggest sports equipment companies in the world. Today it offers a wide range of products, including footwear, clothing, sports accessories and electronics. The company also sponsors many teams and athletes worldwide, including NBA players, footballers and track and field athletes. From the very beginning it focused on innovation and on designing products around athletes' needs. That approach produced many breakthroughs, such as Air technology, first introduced in 1979 in the Air Tailwind. Nike remains one of the leaders in the sports equipment industry and keeps developing and innovating to meet the demands of athletes around the world.

Nike shoes - Dunk, Jordan or Air Max?

Nike Dunk, Nike Jordan and Nike Air Max are the three most iconic and popular Nike shoe lines. Each has a unique design and history that built its lasting popularity in the sneaker world. Nike Dunk debuted in 1985 as a basketball shoe. Its design was inspired by the Air Jordan 1 and it quickly caught on with basketball players and sneaker enthusiasts alike. Over time the Dunk turned into a classic streetwear sneaker, with countless limited editions and collaborative releases fuelling its popularity. The simple yet versatile construction of the Dunk made it a favourite for both collectors and everyday wearers. Jordan, also known as Air Jordan, was first introduced in 1984 as the signature shoe of basketball player Michael Jordan. The design was groundbreaking for its time, with a high collar and bold colours. The Air Jordan quickly became a cultural icon, and its popularity spilled far beyond basketball into fashion and streetwear. Today Air Jordan remains one of the most popular and enduring shoe lines, with new releases and limited-edition collaborations still drawing fans worldwide. Air Max was first introduced in 1987 as a running shoe with a revolutionary visible air unit in the sole. The technology gave runners better cushioning and comfort and quickly became the signature feature of the Nike Air Max line. In time Air Max became a streetwear icon, with bold designs and a visible air cushion making it a favourite of sneaker enthusiasts and collectors. Air Max keeps evolving with new products and limited collaborative editions while remaining a beloved classic among Nike fans. All in all, Dunk, Jordan and Air Max are the three most iconic and enduring shoe lines. Each has a unique story and design that built its lasting appeal for sneaker enthusiasts and casual wearers alike.
