Bearbrick are collectible figures by the Japanese company Medicom Toy that, since 2001, have grown into a language of their own within pop culture. The simple, blocky bear silhouette is a canvas for artists, fashion labels and film studios - hence hundreds of versions, from the minimal to the extravagantly decorated.

The figures come in scales marked as percentages: 100% stands about 7 cm tall and works perfectly as a small accent on a shelf, 400% measures around 28 cm and is the collectors' favourite, while 1000% reaches almost 70 cm and dominates any interior. Sets combining 100% + 400% are popular too.

The value of a given Bearbrick depends on the run size, the collaboration and the condition of the box. Series created with artists or clothing brands are sometimes limited to a few hundred pieces, so they sell out fast and rarely come back into circulation.
