The distinctive tall midsole is remarkably light - the low-density EVA foam weighs less than it looks. The key is the Meta-Rocker geometry: the sole is curved like a rocking chair runner, so the foot rolls forward naturally instead of slamming down on the heel. The Active Foot Frame sinks the heel into the foam rather than perching it on top, which keeps things stable despite all that height.

How to size HOKA

HOKA runs fairly narrow in the road models and wider in the trail versions. With a standard foot, stay with your usual size; with a wide foot, consider half a size up. Remember that feet swell during the day - try shoes on in the afternoon.

How to wear them

The tall sole balances a wider leg nicely, so HOKA works well with technical trousers and sweatpants. Paired with an outdoor jacket it makes a gorpcore look, right next to Salomon models.
