Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Salt (2019/2023)

Layers that make up the upper

The Yeezy Boost 700 Salt is a light gray version of the silhouette that popularized the dad shoe trend. The upper is layered with suede, mesh, and synthetic elements, with panels overlapping each other, which makes the shoe's profile vary in thickness along its entire length. The sole features Boost, a cushioning system with a distinctly springy feel, hidden under a rubber tread. The upper also features reflective accents that are almost invisible during the day but catch headlights after dark.

How this silhouette fits

The construction is wide in the midfoot and built up around the heel, so the shoe holds the foot more firmly than a typical low-top sneaker. Many people find it to be a bit longer on the inside than the size suggests, so if you have a narrow foot, it might be reasonable to go down a half size. The range includes sizes from 36 to 46, with half sizes such as 39 1/3, 42 2/3, or 44 2/3, which allows for a perfect fit without compromise. Before ordering, measure the insole of the pair you wear most often and compare the result with the size chart.

What light gray goes with

The Salt is practically uniform in color, so it doesn't compete for attention with the rest of your outfit and allows you to build monochromatic looks. A natural direction is wide sweatpants or straight-leg jeans, a hoodie, and an off-white or graphite jacket. In darker outfits, this shoe works the other way around: it brightens the bottom of your silhouette and visually broadens it.
