New Balance 550 Lilac Chalk Suede

An '80s basketball silhouette in a lilac finish

The New Balance 550 originates from a basketball shoe and retains its original proportions: a low, wide silhouette, distinct side panels, and a large N logo on the side. In this version, the base is white, the front of the upper is perforated, and a chalk lilac finish is applied to the suede overlays, the logo, and along the edge of the sole. The interior is textile-lined, the sole is rubber, and the lacing is classic and eyeleted, allowing you to tighten or loosen the shoe exactly where needed.

How to choose your size

The 550 model has a wider toe box than slim New Balance running silhouettes, which is why people with wide feet usually stick to their regular size instead of sizing up. The size range for this pair starts at 36 and ends at 41.5. The most reliable method is to trace your foot on a piece of paper, measure the distance from the heel to the longest toe, and compare the result with our size chart. Suede settles slightly over time, but it does not stretch like soft leather, so don't count on a pair that is too tight adjusting on its own.

How to wear them

White with a lilac accent is versatile and easy to style. It looks best with simple jeans cuffed above the collar, as this showcases the full shape of the shoe, but it also goes perfectly with cargo pants, shorts, and sweatpants.
