Description
The 2002R is one of New Balance's best-balanced designs, and the JJJJOUND version pushes it further. Justin Saunders' studio removes ornament and keeps what works: clean upper panelling, minimal branding and a focus on material quality. Adding a Gore-Tex membrane turns a seasonal pair into an all-year shoe.
The upper mixes suede with technical mesh over a waterproof membrane that blocks moisture while letting the foot breathe. ABZORB and N-ergy cushioning sit underfoot, with a heavily lugged outsole below. The JJJJOUND x New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex runs on New Balance's fairly narrow last - go half a size up for wider feet or thicker socks.
