Adidas Yeezy 950 Pirate Black (2023)

Nylon, suede, and a deep-tread sole

The Adidas Yeezy 950 "Pirate Black" (2023) is a high-top sneaker rendered in deep black, featuring dark gray accents that only become visible up close. The upper is constructed from durable nylon and suede—materials that handle autumn weather better than thin full-grain leather. The silhouette rises above the ankle and fastens with classic lacing, allowing you to adjust the fit along the entire length of the foot rather than just the midfoot. Underneath, a sturdy sole with a deep tread provides grip on wet cobblestones, while internal padding and lightweight cushioning ensure comfort during long walks. It is one of the most military-inspired shapes in the entire Adidas Yeezy sneaker line and a model that clearly stands out from low-top sneakers.

Fit and sizing

The high upper wraps around the ankle, and the nylon conforms to the shape of the leg over time—initial wears will feel stiffer than a low-top shoe, and that is intended. Sizes range from 37 1/3 to 46 ⅔, so there is a pair for both narrow and wider feet. Before ordering, measure your foot in centimeters in the evening, when it is slightly larger after a full day, and compare the result with the size guide. If you plan to wear this model in winter with a thicker sock, take this into account when choosing.

How to style them

The "Pirate Black" look works best where it doesn't compete with other bold styling elements: simple cargo pants, workwear, or black jeans cuffed just above the upper. The uniform black allows the shoe to blend into a winter outfit while elevating it with its silhouette alone.
