Nike Air Max Plus, known everywhere as the TN, grew out of a sketch of palm trees against a setting sun - hence the gradient on the upper and the signature fan-shaped TPU ribs that wrap the mesh like palm leaves.
Underneath sits Tuned Air: a system where the units have different firmness in different zones of the foot - soft where cushioning is needed, firmer where stability is. The plastic ribs are not decoration; they hold the mesh and stop it from stretching. The silhouette is aggressive, high in the heel and clearly tapered at the front.
How Air Max Plus fits
The TN has a narrow toe box and a closed upper. With a wide foot go half a size up; with an average one, stay with your usual. The model locks the heel well, so you don't need to pull the laces as tight as on mesh shoes.
How to wear it
The TN has a strong character - it looks best in a simple setup: a plain top and trousers that don't cover the whole upper. Gradient versions work as the only colour in an outfit.
